LEARNING AT LIGER

In a constantly evolving landscape, a Liger education equips learners with the tools to navigate and adapt in our fast-changing world.

THE LIGER LEARNING MODEL

The Liger curriculum is based on leading educational practices from around the world.

We use NCEA (New Zealand’s National Certificate of Achievement) to provide a unified educational foundation for our students.

On top of that, we tailor project-based learning experiences to each student’s interests and to support their areas of growth. Students build a portfolio of work for their future beyond the classroom.

REAL WORLD LEARNING

Our learning approach reflects the fast-changing world your child finds themselves in today.

Project-based learning explores the questions and challenges of contemporary society.

Experiential learning enables students to learn in the world around them, while opportunity-based learning shows students how to seize the moment. We give your child the learning skills they need for life.

AFTER SCHOOL EXTENSIONS

We offer extended learning beyond the school day to make sure your young person develops as a well-rounded, healthy, creative individual.

The variety of extracurricular activities offered are designed to meet the interests of our learners, and include sports, arts, academic and cultural projects.

LIGER LEARNING HIGHLIGHTS

Small Class Sizes

Smaller class sizes, with only 10-14 students, and a high facilitator to child ratio ensure more individual attention. Facilitators are able to be more responsive and more relationship focused. As a result, Liger students feel seen, heard, and cared for, and interact more confidently with adults.

Skills for Life

We always prioritise learning skills over learning content. Knowledge changes, but skills give your child the ability to tackle life. Your child will learn skills such as design process, innovation skills, research experience, and collaboration that can be used on campus and beyond.

Sharations

Our students plan, organise, and run Sharation events for parents, supporters, and the wider community to share their projects, communicate their learning process, and demonstrate their impact. You’re invited to attend a Liger Sharation to experience our learning model for yourself.

Skilled Facilitators

Liger teachers are called facilitators because that’s exactly what they do. They work alongside students to identify a challenge or opportunity, and design solutions to address that need. Facilitators help students take ownership of their learning and offer support when they need it to achieve their goals.

Community Mentors

The Queenstown community is one of our strongest assets, full of leaders, adventurers, and entrepreneurs. We want Liger students to be inspired by people who’ve expertise in diverse and varied fields and pair them with community mentors to work on real world projects.

Student Camaraderie

Liger is a close knit community with strong camaraderie, social connections, and happy relationships. Our existing students take new students under their wing. One of the great things about Liger is it’s cool to be engaged. The kids want to work, they want to be here, they want to come to school.
