The Liger Discovery Club has kicked off with a bang, and we’re thrilled to share the excitement with you! 

Over the past two weeks, we’ve welcomed Year 7 and 8 students from around the Wakatipu Basin to our first two Discovery Club sessions. The energy and enthusiasm have been contagious as these young minds have embarked on a journey of exploration, creativity, and innovation.

Session One: Raging Robotics

Our first session was a whirlwind of robotic excitement. Students were challenged to build a Lego Mindstorm Robot and then code it to solve a specific problem. The room was filled with the buzz of creativity as they worked together, learning the fundamentals of robotics and coding.

Session Two: Movie Maker Magic

This week, the Discovery Club turned into a film studio as students storyboarded a tale about optimism and created their very own Lego stop-motion movie. The process of transforming ideas into visual storytelling was an inspiring experience for all involved.

We still have three Discovery Club sessions to go, each one designed to ignite creative problem-solving and innovative thinking. This free after-school programme runs on Wednesdays from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm in Term 3.
