ABOUT US

We guide our learners to be socially conscious, entrepreneurial thinkers who have the skill sets to become future leaders.

The Liger Leadership Academy is a not-for-profit secondary school, designed to make a difference in the lives of our learners and the communities of which they are a part.

We believe that every learner should have the opportunity to meet their unique potential and have a strong set of values that guide us in our thinking and behaviour towards one another.

These values have been tried and tested (with outstanding results) over the last ten years at our pilot campus in South-East Asia.

The first week we launched Liger Leadership Academy in Queenstown, a student went home to their parents and said, “I’m not in a box anymore. I love going to school.”

That was a big moment for us because that’s what we’re here to achieve.

Liger learners are excited to attend school

The world is changing fast, so we equip your child with the skills to adapt, grow, and thrive. Students are taught to challenge themselves, dig deep, and persevere. As they learn self-management skills, they grow in confidence and love for learning.

Small classes of 10-14 children and a high teacher-to child-ratio, mean the facilitators really get to know each child, their needs, personality, strengths, and the areas where they need support.

The world is our teacher and our classroom

With project-based learning, children solve real world challenges and develop leadership and entrepreneurial skills. They work with mentors who are experts in their field, and harness tech as a tool to deliver impact.

Our mission is to guide our learners to become socially conscious, entrepreneurial thinkers, with the skills to become future leaders of their communities.

A strong connection to local community gives your children roots in Queenstown. Wherever they go in the world, the long-lasting impact of the change they’ve created in this community will inspire them to make more impact in their adult lives.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Liger’s programme is aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum, and benchmarked against their values, key competencies, principles, and learning areas. Graduates will have the opportunity to leave with the National Certificate of Education Achievement (NCEA) issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

But those are just the basics. Our goal is to deliver so much more than a traditional education. And Liger is so much more than a New Zealand school. We are a global school located in New Zealand.

Our curriculum is in two halves. One half is the essentials your child requires to excel at NCEA. The other half is project-based learning, with a curriculum that cultivates ethical, innovative young leaders with highly developed competencies in STEM and entrepreneurship.

Learners create a digital portfolio of their work and write an essay at the end of each year highlighting how they created change in their community or the wider world. This portfolio opens doors for learners far beyond New Zealand.

LIFE AFTER LIGER

Liger graduates go on to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the world. Others start their own businesses or not-for-profit organisations, and others enter the workforce, forging rewarding careers.

Our goal is to equip students to follow any path they choose – or better yet – create their own and lead the way as others join them.

Our story

Our story starts with our founders and their dream to reimagine what learning could be, and how it could be delivered in the 21st century.
